David Deal was born in Alexandria, Virginia. He studied architecture at the University of Virginia before starting work as a photographer. David specializes in location photography, with an emphasis on dramatic, composed portraiture. He has traveled extensively within the United States and Europe on assignment with a wide range of editorial clients, including Forbes, Time, Newsweek, Smithsonian and Virginia Living.
David’s first book, Prospects: A Portrait of Minor League Baseball, was published in 2001 by Alter Books. He recently directed and produced his first feature-length documentary film, Road To Roubiax, on the world’s most prestigious one-day cycling race, Paris-Roubaix. The film was released in June 2008.
