Matthew Mahon’s vibrant images leap off the page and have a 21st century awareness, combining elements of irony with a postmodern sensibility. His portraits are straightforward yet transcendent, combining fundamentals of environmental portraiture with elements of a detached reality, and are often seen as complex with a sometimes satirical and offbeat undercurrent.
Matthew spends his free time traveling, reading and racing bicycles, and abides by the motto, “we are not here for a long time, we are here for a good time.” Matthew Mahon grew up in a small suburb just outside of Manhattan called New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University with a BFA in 1991. Matthew’s favorite cookie is chocolate chip.
Matthew Mahon’s work has been published in ESPN, TIME and the New York Times magazine and he has shot ads for T-Mobile, Southwest Airlines, AT&T, Publicis West and GSD&M
