“Did Christianity Cause the Crash?” is the question the editor’s at The Atlantic ask us.  Yet before we delve into their thesis we are greeted with a wonderfully layered photograph of Pastor Fernando Garay outside the Casa del Padre church in Virginia.  Photographed by Redux photographer Mark Peterson, Pastor Garay, an proponent of the prosperity gospel, reflects off a meticulously manicured Mercedes Benz.  You can find this body of work, plus a brilliantly developed hypothesis on the affects of the rabid pursuit of opulence by members of the Christian faith, in the December 2009 edition of The Atlantic.
