Angie Smith was born in the sleepy, gray, Northwestern town of Eugene, Oregon, and lived there until she was 18 years old. She moved to New York in 1999 to attend Bard College, where she studied for two years until September 11th occurred. Shortly after, she decided to take a semester abroad and study in Ecuador and Brazil. She returned to Bard and continued studying photography under the tutelage of Larry Fink and Stephen Shore. After graduating, Angie moved to New York City to pursue a photography career. Just 2 months after moving to New York, she received her first big break when the New York Times published  one of her images for a feature story. She continued to photograph in New York and simultaneously began a career as a Photo Editor. She currently resides in Los Angeles and continues to photograph and exhibit personal projects on the east and west coasts. Angie can be found hiking, surfing, biking and shooting for such clients as The New York Times, New York Magazine, Forbes, Money, Sunset, the Los Angeles Times Magazine, Essence, and Nike.
