Markian is an award-winning freelance photographer whose career path spans the
globe, creating a narrative as diverse as the subjects he captures through his lens. His
journey has led him to encounter hunter-gatherer tribes in East Africa and the Amazon,
undergo studies at AUArts, and serve as an assistant to the renowned photographer
Martin Schoeller.
Peering through his lens into the intense gazes of today's most prominent personalities,
Markian possesses a unique ability to capture individuals authentically, free from
pretension. He has contributed to a myriad of prestigious publications, including The
New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, GQ, ESPN,
Stern, Report on Business, Maclean’s, and Toronto Life, among many others.
Markian's commercial success extends to collaborations with prominent clients such as
Scotiabank, GSK, Canada Life, Cargojet, and Freedom Mobile, showcasing his
versatility and widespread impact in both editorial and commercial spheres.
When not on assignment, collaborating with peers, or teaching, Markian relishes
spending time with his family.
